From Sketch to Success
What started as a riverbank joke turned into a nationwide fishing sensation — proof that the best ideas come with a cold beer and a good cast.
It all started back in 2014 along the picturesque banks of the Susquehanna River in Central Pennsylvania. John Bell and a few friends were out fishing—rods in hand, beers in the cooler, and plenty of laughter echoing off the water. Somewhere between tall tales and tangled lines, John joked about making a “beer bottle bobber.” The idea got a good laugh… and then it stuck.
What began as a joke soon turned into a full-blown passion project. Sketches filled napkins, prototypes filled tackle boxes, and after countless test casts and redesigns, the Bottle Bobber® was born — A one-of-a-kind blend of fun, function, and unmistakable personality.
Inspired by a love for fishing and a knack for creativity, John launched Southern Bell Brands, turning that riverbank daydream into a brand that celebrates everything great about being outdoors—the laughter, the stories, the cast, and of course… the beer.
Today, our patented Bottle Bobbers® are licensed with legendary names like Anheuser-Busch, Molson Coors, and Pabst Blue Ribbon, proving that the best ideas don’t come from boardrooms — they come from the water!
